Shab e Miraj (the night of journey)

Last night it was 27th Rajab (date according to the Islamic calendar) and it was the Shab e Miraj. Shab e Miraj is the night on which prophet Muhammad PBUH was invited by Allah (the creator) to visit him. He on this journey witnessed things no living man has ever seen before i.e. heaven, hell and 7 levels of  heaven etc.

Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing. [Al-Quran – 17:1]

Narrated by Ibn ‘Abbas Regarding the Statement of Allah” “And We granted the vision (Ascension to the heavens) which We made you see (as an actual eye witness) was only made as a trial for the people.” (Al-Quran – 17:60) Ibn Abbas said: The sights which Allah’s Apostle was shown on the Night of Journey when he was taken to Jerusalem were actual sights (not dreams). And the Cursed Tree (mentioned in the Quran is the tree of Zaqqum itself).

According to Hadiths Prophet Muhammad PBUH was taken in one night from Makkah to Jerusalem. Where he along with other prophet offered Salah (prayer) which was leaded by Muhammad PNUH. Then from Jerusalem, an ascension to the heavens along with Gabriel on the back of a heavenly beast called Buraq.

Then a white animal which was smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey was brought to me. (On this Al-Jarud asked, “Was it the Buraq, O Abu Hamza?” I (i.e. Anas) replied in the affirmative). The Prophet said, “The animal’s step (was so wide that it) reached the farthest point within the reach of its sight. I was carried on it, and Gabriel set out with me till we reached the nearest heaven. [Al- Bukhari – 58:227]

Gabriel then took Muhammad PBUH him through the different level of skies and he PBUH met Prophet Adam, John, Jesus, Joseph,  Idris, Aaron, Moses & Abraham in different heavenly spheres. Finally, he reached the highest point in the heavens and was graced with an experience of the divine presence. On that occasion, the Prophet PBUH received a number of directives including that prayers were obligatory five times a day. (Read the complete Hadith here).

On this night angels also gave a gift to the prophet PBUH in the form of advice. Muhammad PBUH said: ‘On the night on which I was taken on the Night Journey, I did not pass by any group (of angels) but they said to me: “O Muhammad PBUH, tell your nation to use cupping (Hijama). [Sunan Ibn Majah 3479]

The Fakesters

In the lifetime of prophet Muhammad PBUH, there were many nonbelievers who ridiculed the story of his journey. Some believed in it as mentioned in Quran and Hadith. Today there are many nonbelievers who still ridicule this incident. It is to be expected from them but there are many Muslims who are ridiculing it too. They ridicule it by attaching negative and false concepts to it. There are some scholars who have deluded Islam by saying that when Prophet Muhammad PBUH reached the last point he saw Allah (the creator).

Aisha PBUH said, “If anyone tells you that Muhammad PBUH has seen his Lord, he is a liar. For Allah says in (Al-Quran 6:103): ‘No vision can grasp Him. [Sahih al-Bukhari 7380]

Some Sufi scholars have even said that he saw himself at the place of God (no written evidence is available). Different scholars have exaggerated in different contexts. These things are only being said to make people go astray and to earn some easy money and get famous.

As I have mentioned it in my previous two blogs (THERE AND BACK AGAIN & THE RELIGION OF THE FAKESTERS) that there are many fakesters sitting ready to make some false exciting stories and relating them to Islam, whereas in reality, their stories are just a mere means of tricks and trolls to make money and get fame.
